The Mothers In Crisis Proud to be a Virgin (PV) program is a community-based abstinence only prevention program that is designed to educate youth and young adults in the areas of conflict resolution and family issues, with an emphasis on participants’ abstinence from sexual behaviors, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. PV will provide opportunities for young ladies and young men to be educated in order to deal with the tough issues about sex while given positive refusal skills and alternatives to risky behaviors. The emphasis will be on being sexually abstinent until marriage. PV will seek to change the image of abstaining from sex from one of ridicule, to one of power and respect.
