Initiative to Impact Recidivism Among Leon County Jail Inmates (IRAI)
IRAI’s primary goal is to help high-risk families break the cycle of incarceration in the Leon County Jail by providing grass roots, case management and community-based services to former inmates of the Leon County Jail upon their release back into society. The services provided include: case management, drug education support groups, information and referral services, job placement and educational services, parenting and life skills development and substance abuse counseling for women and men. IRAI will bridge the gap between jail and community through the creation of a referral system that consists of case managers facilitating successful re-entry into the community. IRAI staff will work with the entire family for one-year providing the aforementioned services. The services will take place at the Leon County Jail and the Mothers In Crisis House located in the Providence Neighborhood at 1500 Lake Avenue. IRAI will provide a weekly Life Skills support group every Thursday 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Drug Education support group for women at the MIC House at 1500 Lake Avenue. The Leon County Public Safety Council funds IRAI.
