Our Founder
Rosalind Tompkins graduated in 1987 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Social Work from Florida State University. Since then she has worked in the field of prevention, intervention, and treatment for over twenty years and is very involved in many community initiatives. She is truly a Pioneer; in April 1991 she founded Mothers In Crisis, Inc. (a non-profit community-based grassroots organization comprised of women and men in recovery from drugs and alcohol), and in 1998 Turning Point International Church, Inc. Ms. Tompkins servers her community in various ways, she is currently a board member for the United Partners for Human Services Coalition, and the Chaplain for the Tallahassee Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance. In addition, because of Ms. Tompkins’ community service and compassionate heart, she was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush to serve on the Commission for Volunteerism and Community Service for the State of Florida in 2005. She also graduated the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Tallahassee Class 24 in 2006/07. In fact, she has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognition over the years including, the International Who’s Who of Entrepreneurs Award (2000), the Woman of Courage Award from Tallahassee Community College (2001), the Martin Luther King Jr., Humanitarian Award (2002), the Florida A&M University African American Heritage President’s Award (2003), NAACP Black Achievers Award in (2003), a Resolution recognizing her as an Outstanding Spiritual and Community Leader by the Leon County Board of County Commissioners in (2004), a Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter Public Service Award in (2005), and a Black Public Administrators Social Service Award in (2006). She was named, “Woman of the Year 2007” in the Community Service category by the Gadsden County National Hook-Up of Black Women.

Ms. Tompkins has 12 years of personal experience with drug addiction and has over 20 years drug and alcohol free. She believes in empowering families who are in crisis to be all they can be. Ms. Tompkins is the producer and host of two local Cable television shows, “Mothers In Crisis In the House” and “Fire and Ice Extreme for Christ”. She also hosts a local radio show, on WTAL AM.

Rosalind Tompkins is a recognized and honored poet with a compilation of her poems on the CDs Poems of Life & Poems of Life Volume 2, and the published author of the book, As Long As There Is Breath In Your Body, There Is Hope, and the author of the newly released, Rare Anointing.

Ms. Tompkins helps others to fulfill their dreams through her work as a Spiritual Life Coach. She completed the Foundational Life Coach Coursework through the Institute for Life Coach Training in 2008.
